Bob and Diane met at Montana State University in Bozeman where they both hold B S degrees from the College of Agriculture. In 1986 Bob built his first pair of spurs when he was 9 years old. A self-taught maker, he enjoys building bits and spurs while Diane does all the engraving. Their unique Northern Range style uses influence from the vaquero tradition as well the the Texas and Wyoming styles. The Scaleses’ work is included in many of the most important contemporary collections in the country and they are listed in Ned and Jody Martin’s Bits and Spurs, Motifs, Techniques and Modern Makers
