At the age of four Krystii Melaine announced that she was going to be an artist. At age seven she won her first art competition and she taking commissions for paintings by the of fourteen. The Australian native studied painting, drawing, photography and graphic design and soon set up her own fashion design company, developing it into one of the largest bridal-wear companies in Australia.

A desire to return to painting led Melanie to spend five years studying traditional tonal realism and oil-painting techniques. Her passion for wildlife and fascination for people became the major inspirations of her paintings. Melanie travels widely in search of subjects and regular travels in the American West have inspired her to explore the life of modern working cowboys. A new home in Colbert, Washington, has given her more access to many of her favorite subjects. Of her art, Melanie explains, "To capture the essence of a wild creature of the personality of a friend and to share the wonders of live with others -this is what I live for!"
