Albert Espinosa was born in Santa Barbara, California in 1858, settling in nearby Carpinteria where he worked as a blacksmith alongside the renowned Jose Mardueno (1828-1891) through 1885 and later with his son, Vicente (1865-1933) as well as Abbie Hunt (1876-1967)
