Brandriff was born in 1890 in New Jersey and relocated to California in his early 20s to study dentistry at USC. Though he received no “formal” art training, he studied under noted artists such as Anna Hills, Jack Wilkinson Smith, and Carl Oscar Borg. In 1928 he abandoned dentistry to pursue painting full-time and himself became an art teacher in Laguna Beach, CA, as well as the president of the local Art Association. He died in 1936 of what is believed to be suicide. He is best known for his landscapes, marine and still-life paintings.
