Mike Richardson works at the local high school as an Ag Science teacher and teaches metal shop. That allows him the time and opportunity to build cowboy gear part-time. Mike started building as a hobby in 1996 when he was living in Lubbock. He watched several videos and for the first few years, he worked by trial and error.

Richardson then went to see local spur maker Roy Bowling, for a crash course in "sticking silver." He also sought the advice from other makers and would go home and improve his skills. It did not take long before he had a six-month waiting list for his pieces.

Mike was honored when asked to build the hardware and spurs for famed Pitchfork Ranch cowboy, David Ross. Mike's signature Scorpion is highly dramatic and highly sought after by collectors and cowboys alike.

Mike and his wife, Shanna, are the proud parents of two children. He is especially grateful for his wonderful loving family, his customers, and being able to do what he loves to do - building good cowboy gear.
