Auction Buyer Information

Here are facts about Auction procedures you may wish to review. Please contact us if we may be of further service.

Auction PreviewAuction Preview
If you have not viewed the lots for auction prior to the auction day you will need to allow yourself time to inspect your prospective purchases before the auction starts. This is a great time to register to avoid the lines during the auction.

Purchases for Resale
If purchases are made for the purpose of resale, you must complete a valid resale certificate prior to payment, or you will be charged the current Arizona sales tax. All Dealers must present a valid resale certificate each year.

Announcements
We may, as we begin or at any time during the Auction, make announcements as to changes in or modifications to descriptions of property of Conditions of Sale. It is important to be present at the beginning of the Auction for this reason; please check at the door for such changes if you should arrive after the auction begins.

Bidder Registration
Registration is available during the Auction Preview and prior to the beginning of the auction! Every year we still have some folks in the registration line when the auction begins! Don't let this happen - you could miss the first lots!

On-Site Bidding
High Noon offers buyers several ways to bid.

When you arrive at the auction site you will need to register in order to obtain a bidder number. We will need your name, address, phone number, email and driver’s license or ID number. In addition, we required a credit card number (even if you do not plan to charge with it) or letter of credit from your bank and your signature.

Lots are auctioned in numerical order. Any deletions or additions will be announced before and during the sale. Bidding begins below the low estimate, unless otherwise stated by the auctioneer, and continues until only one bidder is left. The auction house may bid on behalf of the Consignor, until the reserve price is met, but then will bid no further.

When you wish to place a bid, please raise your hand or card so the auctioneer can see it. If the auctioneer does not see you, please say "bidding" in a clear voice so your bid will be recognized. If you are the winning bidder, the auctioneer will record the number taken from your raised card after the bidding ends.

Absentee Bidding
When you can't be here to bid for yourself, we will bid for you.

As a service to those wishing to place bids before the sale in writing, bidding forms are available for download.

"Buy" bids will not be accepted. All bids must state the highest bid price the bidder is willing to pay. In the event identical bids are submitted, the earliest will take precedence.

Absentee bids are executed in competition with other absentee bids, any applicable reserve, and bids from the audience. Unsuccessful absentee bids are not acknowledged, but sale results and selling prices for any lot may be obtained by telephone from us during normal business hours.

If your bid is the highest, you will win the lot! As our form says, we "will obtain the item(s) as reasonably as possible."

High Noon will ship merchandise at the expense of purchaser upon receipt of payment.

High Noon assumes no responsibility for failure to execute absentee bids.

Telephone Bidding
To help you bid by phone, agents will be available to call you during the auction. We will use the Absentee/Phone Bid Form you've filled out and returned to us ahead of time so we know which lots you wish to bid on. Note: In the event of the number of bids on a given lot exceeding the number of lines available, the earliest bids will take precedence!

Phone bidders can supply an Insurance Bid in case we have difficulty reaching you by phone during the auction.

High Noon will ship merchandise at the expense of purchaser upon receipt of payment.

High Noon assumes no responsibility for failure to execute telephone bids. Bidding on lots valued at less than $1,000 will be accepted at the discretion of High Noon.

Online Bidding
If you've never done live online bidding, this would be a good time to go to our Live Online Auction page and see how it's done. A small, additional surcharge for all online bidding will be added to your invoice by our online auction service provider.

The Auction
When a lot you are interested in bidding on comes up for sale the auctioneer will announce the lot the High Noon Auctionnumber (either found in the catalog next to the item or placed on the item during the viewing period) and give a brief description of the item usually tied to the description given in the catalog.

A starting bid will be suggested by the auctioneer and usually bidding will start below this price so do not assume the auctioneers starting bid is the lowest price available. You are free to start bidding at any time after the auctioneer has announced the starting bid.

When bidding it is usual to get the auctioneers attention by raising your hand or bidder card or making some other clear gesture to the auctioneer or one of the spotters standing around the room. Now you have started bidding. The auctioneer will return to you every time the bid is against you to see if you wish to raise your offer, a clear shake of the head will indicate to the auctioneer that you do not wish to continue bidding.

Bidding Increments
Bids go up in steps controlled by the auctioneer and until the bid nears the assumed final price a bid of less than this amount will not usually be taken.

If your bid is the final bid announced by the auctioneer, you have been successful in your purchase. You will be asked to supply your bidder number to the auctioneer at this time.

Reserves
Some items of property may be offered subject to a "reserve" or confidential minimum price below which the item will not be sold. In such instances the auction may implement the reserve by bidding on behalf of the consignor, house, owner, or designated bidder.

Be an informed bidder!

High Noon recommends that you attend the Auction Preview, and read the Conditions of Sale carefully prior to bidding on any item in the auction.

After the Auction
After you have won the bid you may either immediately proceed to the Auction Check-Out area and pay for your purchase, or wait until the auction is completed. Auction Check-Out will remain open for 1+ hours following the auction on Saturday night.

All purchases must be paid for and picked up, or arrangements made with High Noon, by the end of Check-Out on Saturday night, following the auction. Buyers will not be able to pick up or ship any items until payment has been received by High Noon.

Remember it is usual for the goods to be the responsibility of the purchaser after the hammer has fallen.

A professional shipper will be onsite during and immediately following the auction to assist buyers with their items.
