September Vhay has shown her work at Birds in Art, the National Museum of Wildlife Art’s Western Visions, The American Academy of Equine Art, the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, and the American Watercolor Society. She won the Fine Print Imaging Award at the 2008-09 Ex Arte Equinus International Equine Art Competition.

A largely self-taught artist, her formal training is in architecture. The work of her great-grandfather Guzton Borglum, the sculptor of Mount Rushmore, also influenced her. Vhay’s understanding of structure, composition and light give her paintings a sense of three-dimensional form. Her talent with watercolor brings a unique freshness to her work in oils.

Raised on a ranch in Nevada, she now lives in Jackson, Wyoming. Her work can be seen at www.vhay.com
