Sonya Terpening is an accomplished painter in both watercolor and oil. Her first love is portraying the people of the West from contemporary cowboys to pioneers. “My art is about sharing the fascinating world around me. When something moves me I want to express it so that the viewer can share that feeling. I think art touches the soul and teaches in ways words cannot.”

Sonya’s art has been included in a number of national invitational exhibitions including the Prix de West Invitational Art Exhibition and Sale at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, and the Masters of the American West at the Autry National Center. In 2008, Sonya was the first woman to win at the Autry.
