Thomas Padgitt started making saddles in 1867 in Bryan, Texas. He moved to Waco in 1875 but still maintained shops in both Bryan and Dallas. While still in Waco, he decided to expand his presence in Texas and went into partnership with James H. Warmoth in Austin. His Austin saddle shop venture operated for at least two years, from 1878 to 1888. Tom died in 1926 leaving a Texas legacy of superior saddles.
