Olaf Carl Seltzer

Start/Birth date: 1877
Death/End date: 1957

Charles Russell taught and encouraged Seltzer to paint in both watercolor and oil and his style shows the influence of Russell, though often exceeding in his subtle use of color. Olaf’s paintings of the Old West form a bridge between the pioneering work of artists like Remington and Russell, and the later generation of artists who painted what ultimately became history and myth. Large numbers of his works are owned by the Gilcrease Institute in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and the Amon Carter Museum in Ft Worth, Texas.
